Nary Manivong’s Fall 2010 collection continues his use of minimalist construction, this season with influences mainly from the 40s and 80s. His silhouettes are reminiscent of the 40s, with slim flattering feminine lines. This choice helps to add a classical and more romantic touch, and balances his 80s references, which are mostly visible in the use of asymmetrical construction, abstract floral prints, and teased up-do hair. NoNoo Lyons – Fall 2010 Collection – New York

NoNoo Lyons designers Deborah Lyons and Misha Nonoo’s third collection showcases precise tailoring and form-fit elegance. Only 18 pieces out of 25 in the total collection were available for the presentation, but it was enough to get the sense that these two ladies really know what they’re doing.

It’s Fashion Week! Yes, the semi annual gathering of buyers, press, fashionistas, and other sundry glitteratti, all here in New York City. Today I had the fine pleasure of attending the presentation in Soho, of NoNoo Lyons’ new line of jackets for Spring 2010.

The NoNoo Lyons designers were featured in the July issue of W Magazine as part of the new guard, and are among this season’s breakout stars. 5 Minutes with Deborah Lyons

While enjoying the fresh air outside The Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Tents in Bryant Park, I happened to meet Mechante of London designer Deborah Lyons, who explained her visit to the U.S. as “for the design and New York.” That, and the fact that the shoes she designed were part of several shows this week.

Clad in fashionably feather-trimmed coat of her own design, and clutching her Miu Miu bag as a shield against all things, she related her shoe design philosophy. In her words, she designs “fashionable, comfortable shoes. I am a woman designer, and I want to design fashionable things that women can wear all day, and be comfortable.” This season that tact focuses in metallic iridescent colors.
