Timo Weiland – Spring-Summer 2010 (Debut) Colection

This is a sophisticated collection that leaves you breathless and waiting for whatever Timo Weiland might think of next.

Timo Weiland  began 2009 with a successful line of neckwear and wallets. By fall, duo Alan Eckstein and Timo Weiland had dreamed up and designed a breakout  RTW collection, featured in WWD in September. The cover image, their silk chiffon tank top paired with cummerbund inspired silk charmeuse and chiffon skirt, epitomized the funky uptown/downtown vibe of the line and let the world know that they had arrived, with this debut at the 22nd Street non-profit Manhattan artspace X Initiative sealing the deal. Peter Som – Spring 2010 Collection

This collection’s message of playfulness and humor coupled with solid tailoring to flatter every kind of figure has put Peter Som back in the running.

story by Faith Bowman

Since 2001, San Francisco-born designer Peter Som has been raising the bar for pretty, ladylike clothing with a youthful fair. His spring-summer 2010 collection again left little doubt that Som is a designer whose clothing flatters and defines the female form. Continuing with his love of saturated color and sumptuous fabrics, the collection sizzled for the eyes, igniting an immediate desire to shop. Continue reading “Peter Som – Spring 2010 Collection”

Isaac Mizrahi – Spring 2010 Collection

The first two lines of The Drifters’ On Broadway are perhaps the best description for Isaac Mizrahi’s Spring 2010 collection, shown recently in The Tent at Bryant Park during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York.

Loris Diran – One Runway Away

Loris Diran is a formidable rising force in fashion. Diran possess the spirit of a chess master; he is considered and thoughtful with an obviously tactical mind, but just under the surface is an aggression that is waiting to pounce. He has married a strong and very honed artistic aesthetic with a muscular business sense, he both thinks and feels his way forward.

Brooklyn Fashion Festival – Spring 2010 Collections

To be at the premier of anything is a special thrill. To be at a premier which contains not only the first night for the Brooklyn Fashion Festival but is also hosting the very first collections of many of Brooklyn’s most promising designers was a special treat. I was lucky enough to be backstage interviewing the designers and getting not only their take on their own collections but on fashion and design in general.

Lacoste Spring-Summer 2010 Collection

story by Charles Beckwith
photos by Hendrik Ballhausen

There isn’t much to say about Christophe Lemaire’s latest line for Lacoste, except that it includes some yellow pieces and there weren’t any surprises. Everyone knows Lacoste. It is a classic iconic brand owned by a large corporation. They have a thing that they do, clothes for tanned people who play tennis, and they do it well. Their clothes are usually very well-made, they last a long time, the colors hold against repeated washings longer than one would expect, they’re stylish, and the alligator says more than any text label ever could.
