If the fact that 90 percent of her pieces are convertible, affordable, and completely innovative isn\u2019t convincing enough to dub this Polish designer a tailoring genius, maybe the fact that she combines chiffon with horsehair will put any confused resistance to rest. Karolina Zmarlak\u2019s<\/a> Spring 2012 collection is a look into her past, turning memories into clothing with the use of horsehair, structural jackets, and ethereal tunics. The creation of this collection served as an outlet for the designer to release all of the pent up creativity she couldn\u2019t otherwise put to the drawing board during her childhood.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think it took a couple of seasons to learn where I come from and come into my own. This collection says, \u2018OK, I\u2019m from Poland and this is who I am.\u2019\u201d<\/h3>\n

As the models sweep across the studio, Zmarlak\u2019s other inspiration of glam rock is supported by the sounds of David Bowie and The Rolling Stones.<\/p>\n

\u201cCommunism started in the 20\u2019s, but this is a story of what liberated women from control. And that was rock and roll.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

Silk print mikado button downs, tapered cobalt pants and layered bustier tops light up the white studio, adding a bewitching feel of rebellion and flair to other pieces of taupe and slate black. Also, have no fear \u2013 the designer\u2019s knack for creating clothing that can be worn in a multitude of ways was still apparent with jackets and maxi skirts that could be worn up to four different ways. Karolina Zmarlak\u2019s Spring 2012 collection may be a blast from her own past, but with its economically savvy qualities and added luxurious undertones, this designer is sure to rise to the helm of fashion\u2019s future.<\/p>\n
