The Reem Acra Fall 2012 bridal collection showcased pleated intricacy, laser-cut origami of tulle and sheer organza (“transparency is the new white,” declared the line sheet), and a judicious use of sequins.\u00a0Asymmetrical cinching and striations give classic shapes in unconventional ways.\u00a0Echoes of the recent\u00a0Ready To Wear<\/a>\u00a0collection were present, such as cascading vine motifs, dazzinlg sparkles like rain running down glass or waves of tears\u00a0covering\u00a0the body.

Jeweled tiaras and other luxe and elegant fascinators seem like they will be a must-have accessory for many brides. The real show was the parade of lace though. As usual, the mistress of wedding wow put on a serious show of beautiful works, brilliantly executed and wonderfully evolving.<\/p>\n

designer Reem Acra closed the show with her constant companion, Lulu<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

After the show, I asked the designer if she has ever been married herself, to which she replied that she has not. She is still waiting for the right man to come along. When asked if she were getting married, which dress she would wear from this collection, she replied “none of those,” because she has put away something she started a long time ago, a dress of “all thread with no bead work or sequins.” She said that “the dress should depend on who you are marrying and your time of life,”<\/strong> and indicated that when the time comes she will finish that work she started years ago, so it will be perfectly suited for her own perfect day.<\/p>\n
