Southern American girls with a Japanese twist is the theme behind this line and its bright colors, structured silhouettes, and complex textures. Fashion fanatics clad in black glided past young ballerinas in tutus at the Alvin Ailey Studio to get into Emilio Sosa’s Fall 2012 Esosa NY<\/a>\u00a0presentation. Stools were set up on a stage placed in front of street-side windows, permitting passers-by a glimpse of the colorful debut.<\/p>\n

The color palette was an array of blood orange, black opal, cobalt blue, and several garments as red as a traditional Geisha\u2019s lips. Speaking with Mr. Sosa during the presentation about where this collection came from, he said, \u201cI wanted to dress a woman from the beginning of her day to the end, regardless of what she has to do.\u201d<\/strong> Above all, these looks are absolutely wearable, as Mr. Sosa also made clear \u201cyou don\u2019t sacrifice fashion for function, or function for fashion.\u201d<\/strong> A great deal of bold color-blocking was used in this collection, as well as interesting prints, including one suggesting sharp branches and adding a deeper theme to an impeccably tailored cobalt sleeveless dress, which was paired with black, sequin embellished leggings.<\/p>\n

Other highlights of the collection included a deep blue, high wasted pencil skirt with slits up the front. A white printed shirt was tucked in, paired with a zebra belt and black coat draped over the model\u2019s shoulders, complete with electric-blue lining. Other creative coverings included a raven black, samurai-inspired hoody with a bubble-like textured fabric. A fantastic leather jacket too, certainly made a statement with its wide collar. The mix of black and gold fabrics truly shone; especially when paired with ruby red trousers and a silk blouse as white as snow.<\/p>\n

Sequined gowns in black and red created sublime silhouettes and were perfect evening looks. A pair of aquamarine trousers and a black blazer, paired nicely as well, complemented by a red coral necklace; a statement look for day and night. And perhaps the most interesting texture of the evening was a pair of laser-cut leggings in gunmetal; almost resembling a chain-link fence.<\/p>\n

Every piece, from sequined gowns to fitted trousers, was flattering to the female form; a creatively colorful collection functional, chic, and fun for the stylish young professional.<\/p>\n
