To stand out in the fashion industry is quite difficult, but to keep going season after season is even harder. Yet Angel Sanchez, with 25 years in the business, is still pushing for round after round. In his long career he has dressed everyone from the top Venezuelan pageant winners, to countless blushing brides, and celebrated faces known around the world.<\/p>\n

Resaltar en el mundo de la moda es dif\u00edcil, pero aun m\u00e1s dif\u00edcil es mantenerse colecci\u00f3n tras colecci\u00f3n. Angel Sanchez cumpli\u00f3 sus 25 a\u00f1os de carrera y est\u00e1 hambriento por m\u00e1s. En su larga trayectoria ha vestido a misses venezolanas, incontable cantidad de novias, e incluso celebridades conocidas alrededor del mundo.<\/span><\/p>\n

Sanchez is a Venezuelan architect by training, but was always surrounded by textiles and textures in his mother’s atilier. As a result, structure and detail stand out in the designer’s dresses. The designer says in each collection his process changes, but there are some common steps he always follows. He always takes inspiration from materials and the way they hang, and for each collection makes an investigation of new techniques. He also sketches everywhere, on anything in reach, so he can recollect passing ideas and give them form later in the collection. The desigenr says, \u201cthe best ideas come at the end,\u201d and that is why he allows his last days before showing each season to be incredibly tense, with the final result not known until the last possible moment.<\/p>\n

Sanchez es un dise\u00f1ador Venezolano, arquitecto, que siempre estuvo rodeado de telas y vestidos, gracias al taller de su madre. Como resultado de su pasado, podemos ver vestidos que resaltan la estructura y el detalle. \u00c9l asegura que cada vez que comienza una colecci\u00f3n, su proceso cambia, pero hay algunos pasos que siempre tiene que seguir. Se inspira al ver los material y su ca\u00edda, en conjunto con una intensa investigaci\u00f3n sobre nuevas t\u00e9cnicas. Tambi\u00e9n realiza bocetos en todos lados, luego los recolecta y va d\u00e1ndole forma a sus peque\u00f1as historias dentro de la colecci\u00f3n. Angel admite que \u201clas mejores ideas siempre llegan al final\u201d por ello los \u00faltimos d\u00edas antes de presentar su nuevo trabajo, son muy tensos. Sin saber cual ser\u00e1 el resultado final, hasta el \u00faltimo minuto.<\/span><\/p>\n

In the Angel Sanchez Spring 2012 Bridal collection, the designer presented a new concept giving lighter shilloutees and softer colors, including lilac and mint, transporting guests at the show to a fleeting bubble of romanticism. \u201cWhen I stay exploring one technique for too long, I get bored. Fashion is supposed to be fun, and that’s why sometimes I decide to contradict my own aesthetic.\u201d Even though the materials were soft, we can always appreciate lines that flatter the feminine silloutette.<\/p>\n

Angel present\u00f3 en la colecci\u00f3n \u201cBridal 2012\u201d un concepto diferente, vimos siluetas mas ligeras, colores mas suaves, como el lila y el menta; que lograron transportar a los espectadores del show, a una burbuja de romanticismo. \u201c Cuando me quedo explorando una t\u00e9cnica por mucho tiempo \u00a1me aburro! La moda tiene que ser divertida, y por ello, aveces decido contradecir mi propia est\u00e9tica\u201d coment\u00f3 Sanchez. Sin embargo, aunque los materiales fueron m\u00e1s suaves, siempre podemos apreciar la linea que favorece a la silueta femenina.<\/span><\/p>\n

He dedicated his life to dressing women for special occasions, but now he is exploring a new field. Angel Sanchez has taken to the streets. He admits it has been a difficult transition to conform within cost restrictions for less formal garments and to contend with strange new globabl market pressures. Despite the adversity he feels his point of view is coming across through the new ready-to-wear work. The streetwear was first released on his home turf in Venezuela, but is now available in New York.<\/p>\n

\u00c9l ha dedicado la mayor parte de su vida a vestir a la mujer para sus ocasiones especiales, pero ahora quiere experimentar en un nuevo terreno. Angel Sanchez a tomado las calles. Admite que es un concepto que se le ha hecho dif\u00edcil de entender, porque hay m\u00e1s limitaci\u00f3n con los costos y es una idea m\u00e1s global; pero considera que ha logrado plasmar su punto de vista. La linea ready-to-wear fue iniciada en Venezuela y ahora esta disponible en Estados Unidos.<\/span><\/p>\n

The designer recently held a 25-year retrospective, but is not only celebrating the past but conquering new territory. In addition to the new Sanchez Collection street-ready diffusion line, he is dreaming of doing menswear and a book, but also in reality preparing to launch an as-yet unnamed fragrance line, which he says will help to define the woman he has always dressed \u201cRight now, I’m working on my perfume. I’m picking out the bottle now, but it has been a process of defining how a woman would smell corresponding with my dresses. I like really feminine women. One that you can really see is a woman. With a lot of personality, I don’t like her to be sweet. I want her to be well informed, human and modern. And that’s the women that I want to find in my fragrance.\u201d<\/p>\n

El dise\u00f1ador, celebr\u00f3 sus 25 a\u00f1os, donde no solo celebra el pasado sino que abre nuevos caminos. Aparte de incursionar en la colecci\u00f3n ready-to-wear, sue\u00f1a con hacer una linea para hombres, y realizar un libro, pero tambi\u00e9n en la realidad est\u00e1 trabajando en su nuevo perfume, aun sin nombre, el cual \u00e9l asegura va a ayudar a definir a la mujer que \u00e9l viste. \u201cEn \u00e9ste momento estoy trabajando en mi perfume. Estoy escogiendo la botella, pero ha sido un proceso el descubrir como oler\u00e1 la mujer a la que yo visto. A mi me gusta la mujer femenina. Una mujer que puedas ver que es una verdadera mujer. Con mucha personalidad, no me gusta que sea dulce. Me gusta que este bien informada, que sea humana y moderna. Y esa es la mujer que quiero encontrar en mi fragancia.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
