Candela<\/a> is a Uraguayan brand inspired by \u201clos gauchos,\u201d local ranching culture, with a modern twist. Designer Gabriela Perezutti is a tall blonde who still exhibits the grace and charm of her younger life modeling career.<\/p>\n

Candela es una marca Uruguaya, inspirada en \u201clos gauchos\u201d, parte de la cultura local, con un giro de modernidad. Gabriela Perezutti, es una rubia alta, que todav\u00eda exhibe la gracia y el encanto, que la llev\u00f3 a ser modelo en sus veintes.<\/span><\/p>\n

When you see a Candela garment, what often catches the eye is the level of detail and the selection of materials. Perezutti explained, \u201cWe do everything by hand, and we put a lot of care into our pieces. We are a contemporary brand so we have contemporary price points, but we are going for a premier designer look.\u201d She also explained that one of the biggest challenges for the label is managing quality against costs. Competition from trend mills like Zara pushes them to create new things consumers can\u2019t find in fast fashion stores. The label has the standard stock line of materials they and others usually work with, such as chiffon, cotton, wool, and leather, but sometimes they experiment with more fancy materials such as tulle, which you would not find in fast fashion or diffusion lines.<\/p>\n

La marca, tiene una l\u00ednea de materiales est\u00e1ndares como lo son: el chiffon, la lana, el algod\u00f3n, y el cuero; Pero de vez en cuando comienzan a experimentar con nuevos materiales, como lo fue el tul, el cual no puedes encontrar en las tiendas de moda r\u00e1pida.<\/span><\/p>\n

Gabriela Peruzutti has participated several times in New York Fashion Week, \u201cThere are a few steps that we take. First the concept, second the routine of seeing how to materialize the concept, then we style it in-house. I believe in the taste that we have in Candela.\u201d<\/p>\n

The hypothetical woman dressed by Candela is happy to be alive, fights against adversity, and has a free spirit, but at the same time cares for nature and the world. That\u2019s ties closely to the label\u2019s work on their first vegan shoes, which are expected to be a part of the Spring 2013 collection. Also, their website is expanding to incorporate cooperation with partner brands, such as Big Bang, Pendantol, and Juana de Arcos, who will help to tell the unique Candela story.<\/p>\n
