Sophie Theallet\u2019s Fall 2010 show was her first since winning the coveted CFDA\/Vogue Fashion Fund award last year.<\/p>\n

For the French Theallet, whose namesake label has been around since 2006, this was a well-deserved win. The collection, grounded in flirty skirts and dresses, was inspired by children\u2019s fairy tales, princess dresses, and an overall world of fantasy. This theme is evident in many of her pieces, especially her second look \u2013 a simple black dress paired with a black head scarf \u2013 recalls imagery of a grown-up, sophisticated Little Red Riding Hood that has traded her signature red cape for something a little more chic.<\/p>\n

One of the stand out pieces that particularly demonstrated the romanticism of the fairy tale theme came from the evening wear portion of the show. A model glided down the runway in a silvery wrap dress with a print of what can only be described as the night sky. The train of the gown pooled at her feet, creating a wind-blown effect, making the model appear to be some kind of moon goddess.<\/p>\n

Sophie\u2019s girl, however, was not all about covering up. Another interesting piece was a shimmering multi-paneled sleeveless dress that seemed to float down the runway. There were plenty of other playful short skirts that could easily take the wearer back to those innocent days of girlhood.<\/p>\n
