Greek designer Vassilios Kostetsos presented “Eros Anikate Mahan” for Fall 2010. His inspiration for this collection reportedly came from Sophocies’ 442 BC tragedy Antigone.
Each one of his pieces stem from the idea that “love is unconquered in the battle”. With the use of color Kostetsos was able to depict his message down the runway: red fabrics were used to symbolize love and passion; black depicted the death of Antigone’s brother; bronze was chosen for its striking similarities to the weapons used in battle; and leather was used to represent the ruthless connotations suggested within war.
The highlights of his show were seen in the bold use of color, the combinations of color and fabric, the unique shoulder detailing shown on the dresses and jackets; the sexy sheer tops, the dominatrix leather outfits, and the underlying futuristic element seen in each of the garments through the use of bright bold colors and metallics.
This particular collection showed the great amount of time, energy, dedication, and devotion that went into Kostetsos’ overall passion and idea.
