Odilon by Stacey Clark – Fall 2012 – Puzzle Pieces

Stacey Clark’s Fall 2012 Odilon collection is directly derived from the more confusing bits of David Lynch’s “Twin Peaks.” Inspired by Lynch’s long takes and psychological twists, Clark sought to transpose this same mysterious nature to her own work. The result is highly stylized, with Lynch’s graphic space transferred to prints for dresses and sweaters throughout the collection. Other references to the series included the classic puzzling quotation, “the Owls are not what they seem,” printed on a long sleeve shirt, all orchestrated to contribute toward presenting a secretive girl icon.

Odilon by Stacey Clark – Spring 2012 Review – Refined but Rad

This new season at Odilon is a fair departure from fall. Taking off from dark colors and draping coats lands fresh whites and strips of sunny yellow. Suitable given Canadian designer Stacey Clark’s, “Finally embracing living in the L.A. sunshine.” Also bathed in grassy green and deep sea blues, Odilon’s Spring 2012 collection was inspired by 90’s Venice Beach, skate shirts (Ms. Clark has a white skateboard herself, which was waiting backstage), and the musical likes of Courtney Love, Kim Gordon, Kurt Cobain and Pavement.

Odilon by Stacey Clark – Fall 2011

Clark feels this is one of her most mature shows, which in turn shows her growth.

LA based Stacey Clark and her assistant designer Harold Kuhn are cool and they are young. Budding into the scene with their Odilon Fall 2011 collection, their third, Clark feels this is one of her most mature shows, which in turn shows her growth. Fittingly, the Greek goddess Persephone, who has a classic story of growing, inspired it. Starting as a young, naïve girl, she got taken by Hades, got her heart broken, found out that the world is not such a wonderful place, eventually evolving into a jaded, sad, and unwilling goddess of the underworld. But a bit of her innocence remained. The designer wanted this line to reflect that journey, but with the added element of psychedelic rock and roll, like an acid trip via Sergeant Pepper’s, circa 1970.
