Strongly influenced by David Altman, Mandy Coon‘s Spring 2012 collection is charged by the sculptor’s mixture of textures of beautiful but unsettling weird things.

“Werewolf heads with crystals coming out of them, mirrors, and my love for rocks and crystals is my inspiration,” described the designer backstage before the show.

The color palate was electric blue, yellow, black and white, all of which she got from crystals and rocks. Ms. Coon’s use of black with pops of color showed her excitement to break away from winter and everything black on black. Geometric and asymmetrical shapes are seen throughout the collection. Her mixture of leather and silk keep her pieces both tough and delicate. It’s slick, it’s sexy, it’s well constructed. Definitely a strong showing.
