ADAM, CFDA, and Mayor Bloomberg have some special events planned.
Shopping till (almost) midnight during NY Fashion Week!
As part of Mayor Bloomberg’s Five Borough Economic Opportunity Plan, nearly 100 retailers will keep the doors open until 11pm on September 10th.
“New York City’s fashion and retail industry is a vital part of our local economy, supporting more than 175,000 jobs as seamstresses, sales clerks, delivery drivers and other occupations in apparel design, garment manufacturing, retailing, and other areas,” said Mayor Bloomberg. “Fashion’s Night Out will provide our local retailers with a boost and will serve as a terrific kick-off for fall Fashion Week. I want to thank Vogue and the Council of Fashion Designers of America for developing a creative way to support New York City.”
Special limited-edition t-shirts will be on sale in select stores three weeks prior to the event, with proceeds going to support the National September 11 Memorial & Museum. Also. Shoppers will be encouraged to donate gently used or newly purchased clothes at participating stores or at specifically designated drop-off locations.
“As a retailer, we are very excited about supporting this citywide initiative designed to stimulate the retail and fashion industries,” said Macy’s, Inc. President and CEO Terry Lundgren. “Fashion’s Night Out is a great program that will get New Yorkers and tourists excited about shopping again in the City that is known around the world for its eclectic fashion and iconic retail stores.”
ADAM Loves Dogs
Adam Lippes will open his New York City Meatpacking District boutique, ADAM, for one day of dog adoptions to help the many animals in need find homes. The dogs, ranging in breed and size, will be showcased in the windows of the boutique on Sunday, May 31st from 2-4PM. Delicious doggy treats and post brunch Bloody Mary’s and Mimosas will be served to all guests and animal lovers. Customers, locals and passer bys are welcome to bring their pooches by for the fun day of shopping. Ten percent of all the proceeds will be donated to the Humane Society, and “ADAM Loves Dogs” leashes and t-shirts will be given away to all new dog owners.
