Nicholas K – Adventurewear

Nicholas K has a strong brand signature. Their love of both layering and strategic deconstruction creates a sense that wearers are free and nomadic adventurers who are in our world, but not one hudred percent of it.

Nicholas K – Fall 2012 – Power of Contradiction

The Nicholas K Fall 2012 collection was another strong example of the labels increasingly recognizable signature style. All the elements one would expect were in evidence; the layering, the rough textures, the creative cuts and treatments. The soul of any Nicholas K design is a transfixing intersection of rawness and creative construction. Every single piece that walked down the runway in this, the very first of the official Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Fall 2012 shows, was loaded with elements and details that dew the eye. There were thin fabrics in long cuts that created life and movement, and these were layered under rough knits, wools, and leathers.

Nicholas K – Hard Work Paying Off

The brother and sister team of Chris and Nicole Kunz and their label Nicholas K may seem like a new brand on the U.S fashion scene due to their recently acquired hot label status, but they’re far from freshmen. As they close in on a decade of design, it’s important to notice that from the very first looks of their 2003 launch, their work already contained many elements of their naturally signature style. In the following years there has, of course, been experimentation with shape, texture, and construction as they’ve zeroed in on their form of fashion. And as with all of the really strong brands, there has been refinement from season to season, but the style they were going for has been apparent from day one.

Nicholas K – Spring 2012 Review – Leather Nomad Chic

Brother & sister Nicholas and Chris Kunz, of the New York based label Nicholas K, actually began their journey to the catwalks of New York in the arid air of Tuscon, Arizona. The loose cuts and fine and flowing layers seem a natural outgrowth of life in the heat. This season’s collection continued the growth of this impressive and under-recognized label. Ably helmed with Nicholas as designer and Chris as the business manager, the label is poised for bigger and better things.
