Risks and Reverb – A Photo Editorial

I see the band gear in the shots, not just gambling products— So, I’ll say that we wanted to show a risk-taking and glamorous lifestyle. In this economy people have taken to kamikaze living, and it shows the effects of our financial climate. You may go for bigger challenges seeking larger rewards!!

“You always have time for the band and casino. What about me?” said my ex. Lacoste Spring-Summer 2010 Collection

story by Charles Beckwith

There isn’t much to say about Christophe Lemaire’s latest line for Lacoste, except that it includes some yellow pieces and there weren’t any surprises. Everyone knows Lacoste. It is a classic iconic brand owned by a large corporation. They have a thing that they do, clothes for tanned people who play tennis, and they do it well. Their clothes are usually very well-made, they last a long time, the colors hold against repeated washings longer than one would expect, they’re stylish, and the alligator says more than any text label ever could. Side Trip to Venice – A Photo Editorial and Travel Story

What does a fashion photographer take with him when sightseeing in Venice? A statuesque brunette, of course!

story and photos by Charles Beckwith

I was in Italy for the main womenswear fashion week in Milan, Milan Moda Donna, in late September. Looking at the schedule about half way through the week, I realized the last two days would be fairly slow. I decided to ditch fashion week and do a day trip, so I could see some more of the country. It was a toss up between taking the train to Venice or Verona, and I decided on Venice “to see it before it sinks.” What does a fashion photographer take with him when sightseeing in interesting places? A statuesque brunette, of course! Continue reading “Side Trip to Venice – A Photo Editorial and Travel Story”

Christian Siriano Spring-Summer 2010 Collection

The models marched out in uniformly sky-high heels, while silhouettes were all over the map. There was a well-employed Mediterranean-inspired color palette ranging from ultramarine to nude and sunset colors, and the outfits were all well-tailored.

Petite wonderboy Christian Siriano smiled and chattered calmly backstage with press and a small army of celebrity friends and fans (such as Tim Gunn, Heidi Klum, Jay Alexander, Tori Spelling, Heidi Montag, Hayden Panitierre, Vivica Fox, and several other famous faces) as a public relations management nightmare raged in the more public areas of the tents at Bryant Park. Fahrd Fosté Spring-Summer 2010 Collection

Fahrd Fosté showed a collection in Sara D. Roosevelt Park on Manhattan’s Lower East Side that was based on an underwater world. This translated into a strange show that left viewers wondering whether this was fashion, art, or neither.

Chado Ralph Rucci Spring-Summer 2010 Collection

You know how in Spiderman the ordinary kid gets bitten by a radioactive spider and gets super powers? When I look at Chado Ralph Rucci’s pieces on the runway, I think maybe this was an ordinary clothing designer who got bitten by a radioactive modernist sculptor.

When I look at Chado Ralph Rucci’s pieces on the runway, I think maybe this was an ordinary clothing designer who got bitten by a radioactive modernist sculptor. There is no point in his shows where one is not thinking a superior artist has been at work. Continue reading “Chado Ralph Rucci Spring-Summer 2010 Collection”
