Christian Siriano Spring-Summer 2010 Collection

The models marched out in uniformly sky-high heels, while silhouettes were all over the map. There was a well-employed Mediterranean-inspired color palette ranging from ultramarine to nude and sunset colors, and the outfits were all well-tailored.

Petite wonderboy Christian Siriano smiled and chattered calmly backstage with press and a small army of celebrity friends and fans (such as Tim Gunn, Heidi Klum, Jay Alexander, Tori Spelling, Heidi Montag, Hayden Panitierre, Vivica Fox, and several other famous faces) as a public relations management nightmare raged in the more public areas of the tents at Bryant Park. Fahrd Fosté Spring-Summer 2010 Collection

Fahrd Fosté showed a collection in Sara D. Roosevelt Park on Manhattan’s Lower East Side that was based on an underwater world. This translated into a strange show that left viewers wondering whether this was fashion, art, or neither.

Instant Apocalypse – A Photo Editorial

Civilization as we know it has fallen. 4 Times Square sheds glass in high winds as if it were molting, all that remains of The Champs-Élysées is overgrown weeds, and the streets around Piazza San Marco are explored only by bats hungry for mosquitoes. Yet fashion has marshaled on. Here preserved, seven images from the last box of instant film in the world.

Gottex Spring-Summer 2010 Collection

Gottex is not new, but this season sees a new creative director at the helm of this global champ swimwear brand. The debut show put on by new designer Molly Grad was nothing short of brilliant. The high energy vibe, the sexy curvy models, and the “own it” suits made this one of the sexiest shows of the week.

Gerlan Jeans Spring-Summer 2010 Collection

I saw more confidence, stronger lines, a greter variety of print patterns, and a much more considered voice. There were more risks taken, and though the fingerprint of the what I saw before was still there, this was new, and there was obviously some editing that had gone on since she showed her first collection at Patricia Fields’ house last season.

I first met Gerlan Marcel at one of the trade shows last season. She was sitting at a table in the corridor outside Showroom Seven, surrounded by wildly colored garments with an odd texture. It turned out they were all printed denim. It was mostly printed denim jeans and jackets, some things that looked like sweat pants, but not a whole range really. Victor de Souza Spring-Summer 2010 Collection

Walking into the white studio space, I saw a lineup of frozen models held up by the strong cuts of Victor de Souza’s spring-summer 2010 collection. It is a sublime fusion of both the classical and the fantastical.

Manuel De La Cruz is relatively new for having his own collection in the fashion world, but completely storied in history.
