Willow – Fall 2010 Collection – New York

The women exuded confidence and seduction. Willow’s lingerie background was apparent, as seen in the sheer pant panels and nude color palette.

Kit Willow’s Fall 2010 Willow collection, titled Eclipse, “uses the natural curves of the body as her canvas. Fabrics work like a second skin. Gently hugging and enhancing the body’s shape. Skin to skin, this sleek silhouette is like a shadow, a perfect Eclipse of the feminine form,” said the designer. Continue reading “Willow – Fall 2010 Collection – New York”

Robert Tonner – Fall 2010 Collection – New York

While so many other designers this season continued to experiment with shoulder inserts and other masculinizing elements, he has presented a collection that celebrates the classic beauty and refined quality of the bygone New York Cafe and Jazz Club cultures.

This is designer Robert Tonner’s second collection. A strong departure from the vision of his first collection (Spring 2009), but Tonner has again utilized the innate femininity of the female form. Continue reading “Robert Tonner – Fall 2010 Collection – New York”

Ivy h – Fall 2010 Collection – New York

Standouts in the line were the reversible coats in shades of charcoal, steel gray, and black, with delightfully dramatic red buttons that really popped and sold the looks. Attention to details is what makes this edgy collection flow with elegance and harmony. The tailored quality, the cuts, and the fit are what seem to make Ivy h. style so intriguing, and the designer one to watch.

Timo Weiland – Fall 2010 Collection – New York

Though not as funky as the past, Edwardian themed season, fall with Timo Weiland is a demure, casual occasion, with a rich color palette and tailored luxury, free of gimmicks.

Every season Timo Weiland manages to edit towards a more and more refined look. Their chic easy wearing pieces are the epitome of that which is all the rage with the young in the city set.  The scene backstage at their presentation was one of the most calm and serene of any I’ve wandered through, and everyone seemed to have a friendly vibe, which easily translated to the way his clothes look on the models. Marlon Gobel – Fall 2010 Collection – New York

With this collection, Marlon joins the likes of Colombian designer Miguel Caballero, in designing fashionable concealed body armor.

Entering into the presentation space, it is clear that Marlon Gobel, for his first solo collection, has designed a high concept line. Standing out from the white seamless walls is a homemade geodesic dome which serves as the centerpiece and framing device for his models. He has seamlessly integrated allusions to strands of DNA, blood vessels, and internal organs into the collection. Highlights of these expressions included the Blood Vessel Braided Tie and a Cashmere Heart and Blood Vessel Sweater. Continue reading “Marlon Gobel – Fall 2010 Collection – New York”

Tony Cohen – Fall 2010 Collection – New York

Tony’s new embrace of trim silhouettes, void of last years occasionally untamed colors and patterns, presents a more mature touch that we hope to see more often.

Tony Cohen’s fall-winter 2010 collection show, featuring the style direction of the talented Kithe Brewster, had a touch of edge for everyone. From the jeweled embroidered sleeve gloves to his silk organza dress, the attention to detail was stunning. Specifically this was represented by the choice of fabric for an exquisitely saturated crimson reverse pleated silk top, and the occasional solo leather wrap cuff used to add an eye-catching touch of asymmetry. Venexiana – Fall 2010 Collection – New York

The delicate sheer and jeweled details in each of Kati Stern’s Fall 2010 gowns are camera ready for the bright lights of the Golden Globe and Academy Award red carpets. Beautiful floor sweeping pieces with peeks of skin – low cut backs, exposed shoulders – added the feminine touch. It is apparent that Stern’s modus operandi is outfitting a woman’s body for elegance.

Ports 1961 – Fall 2010 Collection – New York

Tia’s strong sense of shape and texture came through once again this season, with menswear-influenced looks rearranged into feminine forms. Leather hats looked straight out of Amelia Earhart’s locker, and some Lamé dresses stood out completely on the runway.

Ports 1961’s collections always seem to take you somewhere new. Many designers are jumping the bandwagon of “killing the trend,” but Tia Cibani was already there. She sees her collection as always against the norm, using her travels as an inspiration, and the brand story is always about that girl traveling the world, but this season, she seemed to take a slightly different course, with not a specific location being central in the looks, but rather the idea of traveling between places, as classic aviation looks and the global nomad persona took center stage. Helen Yarmak – Fall 2010 Collection – New York

Known for producing luxury outerwear, Yarmak gives traditional luxury pieces a modern edge by adding cosmetic distractions such as crystal embellishments on a capped sleeve coat or an exaggerated pink zipper on an orange dyed cropped fur coat. The result is a fun cotton candy vibe for otherwise antiquated garments.

Put simply, the inspiration for Helen Yarmak’s latest collection was, as the designer said, “happy people.” Known for producing luxury outerwear, Yarmak gives traditional luxury pieces a modern edge by adding cosmetic distractions such as crystal embellishments on a capped sleeve coat or an exaggerated pink zipper on an orange dyed cropped fur coat. The result is a fun cotton candy vibe for otherwise antiquated garments. Continue reading “Helen Yarmak – Fall 2010 Collection – New York”
